This part of the FAQ will list what triggers a trip in HET’s system.
The definition of a trip is when your Total Rewards account is updated with a new ADT score for the day into the Prop18, Prop19 and Prop20 averages. When this happens, your ADT scores will go up or down based on the new score averaged into the previous values. To clarify: if an action triggers a trip, this means that your ADT score will have a new score for that day averaged into your previous scores. If you trigger a trip WITHOUT wagering any money that day, you will have a score of ZERO averaged in. If you do wager that day, the other actions have no effect, just your wagering theo will be averaged in.
HET Trip Triggers
Wagering will trigger a trip. The total amount you coin-in over a given play day will be averaged into your ADT scores. Each property’s play day varies, sometimes it is 6am to 6am, sometimes it is midnight to midnight. To make things more confusing, some properties have different play day times for different games (table verses electronic machines). We will be updating specific property play day times as we become aware of the actual figures.
Playing at multiple properties on the same day may trigger many trips. This may be changing in Las Vegas where Harrah’s is possibly putting all play at all properties into one trip. This would make things better for the player that visits multiple properties in one day. Atlantic City, as of this posting, currently hits you with multiple trips if you visit multiple properties on the same day. This is a bad idea if you’re looking to maintain your given ADT score, as it depreciates the average quickly. Wagering $20,000 coin-in in one property in Atlantic City will be considered a single $20,000 trip. If you wager $10,000 in one property and $10,000 in another, it will average into your prop scores as two $10,000 trips, which will affect your prop score in a negative fashion (unless your ADT is lower than both new averaged scores).
Visiting Diamond Lounges may trigger a trip. Some properties (to be listed soon) will trigger a trip for that day. It seems to change quickly as to which properties trigger a trip from a Diamond Lounge visit. If you’re visiting a Diamond Lounge at a property that triggers a trip, it is wise to make the visit on a day where you’re also using your Total Rewards card for wagering. If you’re not playing on that day, the Diamond Lounge visit will add a $0 ADT score to your averages, bringing down all your prop scores significantly. If you do wager that day at that property, the visit will not affect your averages. As to which Diamond Lounges do trigger a trip, it seems to be based on whether or not the hotel considers the lounge a “Restaurant” or a “Lounge.” If they’re serving full meal courses (hot), it’ll likely be a trip-trigger. If they’re just basic lounges, it most likely won’t. I’ll update each hotel Diamond Lounge with specific information as people share it.
Accessing your comp RCs will trigger a trip. If you visit a property and use comp RCs to pay for something (food, shows, etc), a trip will be triggered. If you don’t wager that day, it will be a $0 ADT score into your averages, bringing down all your prop scores. If you do wager that day at that property, the Diamond Lounge visit will not affect your new averages.
Checking out and using your comp RCs will trigger a trip. If you have a host or customer service apply your comp RCs to your room charges, a trip will be triggered. Some people have noticed that they can save a $0 trip-day by checking out before midnight the day before check-out, and using all your RCs towards room charges.
Picking up gifts or benefits associated with an offer will trigger a trip. If your offer includes free gifts or free show tickets, accepting the gift will trigger a trip. If you don’t wager that day, your score will average in a $0 ADT, affecting it negatively. If you do wager that day at that property, the act of picking up gifts or benefits will not affect your new averages.
Booking a comped room and visiting the property will USUALLY NOT trigger a trip. If you don’t wager, pick up cash back, pick up gifts or use RCs towards charges, you will not register a trip, at least at Las Vegas properties. Update: Jim says that using a comped room at the Grand Tunica does trigger a trip, but we need verification from others. Please comment below if you’ve had a trip (or not!) when using a comped room at Grand Tunica, or elsewhere.
If you know of additional trip triggers, please post a reply in the comments below, along with what property is affected, and when you noticed the trip trigger (month, year).

Diamond Lounge - might be worth listing them. My experience is that visits to the following do NOT trigger a trip.
Tunica Horseshoe
Tunica Grand
Harrahs Reno, Harveys, Tahoe
Harrahs Laughlin

It seems that using a comped room at the Grand Tunica (possibly all tunica properties) now causes a trip. I am not sure what day the trip is registered on multiday stays, but I believe it is the next day after checking in.
Harrahs StL: Visiting the Diamond Lounge does not trip you. They do have hot food from 3p - 9p, but it is one meat and one veggie and may change several times through out the evening.

Bally’s AC is now tripping you for a Diamond lounge visit.
I had last visited Bally’s using my card in October. I went to AC on 11/4-11/5 staying at Trump Plaza and only going to the Diamond Club to eat on the 4th and 5th.
In checking my harrah’s on line account yesterday, I noted that the last activity date was now 11/5, not October. My RC’s Had also changed by +500 and var 18,19,20 had each been reduced significantly.
Obviously, I have been tripped amd it appears that I was credited 500 RC’s which I was entitled to if their was activity on a Monday or Tuesday in November(a postcard that I had received in the mail previously.)
You might want to note this appropriately. Thanks for all your hard work in attempting to figure out and understand the HET system. Best, Joe
